Why do I need a breathalyzer?

People tend to think of breathalyzers as tools for police patrol officers and medical personnel. Although professionals in law enforcement and health often purchase breathalyzers, the fastest growing need for these breath testers can be seen across the many bars, restaurants, and even personal residences throughout the world: casual / social drinkers.

A common misconception is that only "problem" drinkers are pulled over for DUI / DWI. This is far from the truth; it is because only "problem" drinkers make the news headlines. Casual, or "social", drinkers are often pulled over by police for something as simple as failing to signal before changing lanes or slowly rolling through a stop sign. It is then that a breathalyzer test is conducted, and all too often the casual drinker will exclaim, "I thought I was OK to drive!" even though the test results show the reading is above the legal limit.

Without a breath alcohol tester, you can't be very sure about how drinking alcohol relates to your specific Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC). There are generic weight charts available, but they are only vague approximations and do not account for the differences in body chemistry from person to person. Only with a breathalyzer can you know for certain.

Even if you don't drink yourself, you may have a parent, a child, a friend or a close peer who does. Maybe you are hosting a party where alcohol will be served.

Whatever the case, don't let your loved ones fall victim to the heavy fines, criminal records and even possible loss of life in the face of alcohol-related tragedies.
