Q&A: COVID-19 and Cleaning Process

Question: Is there an one-way valve in the device to prevent someone from inhaling?

Answer: Not in the device, but AlcoMate genuine mouthpieces have an one-way, irreversible valve to prevent from sucking in.   We strongly recommend to use individually-wrapped mouthpieces in pandemic situation.

Question: What is the best method or products to use for cleaning the device?

Answer: We believe Lysol or Clorox wipes help breath air channel clean, but make sure that Clorox liquid doesn't reach inside of the chamber of the alcohol sensor.  Please keep that in mind that any chemical liquid would harm or shorten the life of alcohol sensor.  The breath air passes through a needle hole, located inside of the breath air channel tube before it reaches the air chamber of the sensor module.  In addition, we recommend to use UV light sanitizers if reliable to sanitize the inside of the device.

Question: Is it recommended to clean the inside of the device without damaging the sensor?

Answer: Since any chemical liquid would harm or shorten the life of alcohol sensor, so we wouldn't recommend to clean the inside of the device.  If you want to do so, please detach batteries and sensor module first, and then carefully clean the inside of the device.   Please make sure that device should be completely dry before replacing batteries and sensor module.
